🚗 Travel cot tips 🚗

So it’s Christmas and you’re visiting family and friends, or maybe you are off on holiday and your little one will be sleeping in a travel cot!

Here are some tips and tricks to help make the transition as smooth as possible.

✨ Keep it safe: Travel cot mattresses can be quite thin but resist the urge to pad them out with blankets. Loose bedding can increase the risk of SIDS if your baby’s face gets covered.

✨ Check it’s fit for purpose: If you’re staying in a hotel or borrowing a travel cot from a friend, make sure the cot is in good condition and meets safety standards.

✨ Familiar smells make a more comfortable sleep: Bring a slept-in sheet from home to make the travel cot feel (and smell!) like home.

✨Blankets or sleeping bags? If you’re using blankets, place baby’s feet at the foot of the cot, tuck the blanket in tightly (no higher than their shoulders), or use a safe sleeping bag.

✨ SnoozeShade cot cover – a new find but a great one! Covers the cot and provides a dark space for sleep, even if they’re in a bright room! Use code: NightswithNat for 10% off everything on the SnoozeShade website!

My TOP TIP (after a truly horrendous night with my eldest when he was 6 months old 🤦🏽‍♀️)
✨Upgrade: Invest in a made-to-fit travel cot mattress or choose a cot that already has a softer option. (That said, some babies sleep just fine on the mattress but none of my 4 did!)
