There’s a myth that cosleeping creates “bad sleepers.” It doesn’t. Many children who cosleep grow up perfectly capable of independent sleep when the time is right. It’s also not true that your child needs to sleep on their own when working with me or to get better sleep.
I have worked with many families who have said they want their child to stop waking numerous times overnight, feeding throughout the night or maybe just lie next to them rather than ON them all night. But a common theme between these families is that they want to continue cosleeping. They did not want their child to sleep separately for whatever reason and that’s ok!
Cosleeping can be a comforting, safe way to support your child and sleep patterns are influenced by routines, not just where they sleep.
Keep consistent bedtime routines, watch for safety guidelines, and trust your instincts. Cosleeping can coexist with healthy sleep habits!
