📆To track or not to track 📆
…that is the question!
Personally, I LOVE a good sleep tracker app. As a busy mum of 4, especially in the newborn days when everything is one big blur, I didn’t know what day of the week it was, let alone how long ago my baby woke up or when he was last fed!
This is where I feel sleep tracker apps are perfect! A quick swipe up and I see ‘awake 2 hours 20 minutes’ – ahh that’s why he’s fussy – he is due a nap!
It really helped me keep an eye on things and not keep my babies awake for too long.
Professionally, it helps me analyse client’s babies sleep data. I can see patterns and when I ask how long baby has been awake, getting an answer such as ‘2 hours 23 minutes’ is much more useful than ‘around 2 hours’.
HOWEVER, if apps make you anxious and worried, delete them!
Also, I don’t recommend purchasing apps which predict when your baby should next go down for their nap. I have mentioned it previously but how does an app know how active your baby has been or how they are feeling at that moment? When an app tells you to put your baby down to sleep this can cause even more anxiety and, a lot of the time, upset babies who are being forced to sleep when they aren’t ready yet.
Bottom line, I think apps for tracking sleep are great! But if you don’t feel like they help, get rid! You know your baby best 💪⭐️❤️
