✨ Routine changes: Why your reaction matters more than the change itself ✨
For 16 months, my little one’s nap routine looked exactly the same. Same room. Same lighting. Same changing table. Same flow.
Consistency is so comforting, especially for babies.
Then one day… the changing table was gone and in its place was a huge wardrobe.l!
To him, it was like waking up and finding the bedroom rearranged. It was unfamiliar and a bit unsettling.
He looked unsure, taking in the new space. And here’s exactly what I did…instead of highlighting the change, I acted as though nothing major had happened.
I changed him in a different spot, kept my tone calm, and followed the rest of the nap routine exactly the same way as always.
And guess what?
He settled beautifully. A little curious at first, but because I stayed relaxed and consistent, he quickly accepted the new setup. Soon, he didn’t even remember how the room used to look!
Babies take their emotional cues from us. If we treat a change as “no big deal,” it often becomes no big deal for them too.
Your confidence = their confidence. 💛
