💥Noisy nursery naps💥
Everyone who has worked with me knows that I love a quiet nap environment. But being realistic, this isn’t always possible, especially at Nursery.
Now we are very fortunate that our child’s nursery has dedicated naptime where the lights are low, calm music is played and all the babies are able to rest.
But what if this isn’t the case at your child’s nursery? Does your baby struggle to nap or settle? If so, you’re not alone — babies are naturally sensitive to sounds, but with some consistency, they can learn to sleep anywhere! 😴
Here’s how to help:
💡 Use White Noise: A consistent white noise machine can mask background sounds and signal sleep. Keep it on throughout the nap for maximum effect. Take this with you and give it to your child’s keyworker.
💡 Stick to Routine: Even in a different environment, try to maintain familiar cues — the same sleep sack, bedtime song, or lullaby can help. Tell your child’s keyworker exactly what you do to get your child to sleep.
💡 Practice Gradually: Short naps in new environments can help your baby adjust over time.
💡 Don’t Stress About Noise: Babies are adaptable. Some extra daytime noise is fine — it won’t harm them and often helps them learn to settle in different situations.
With a little preparation and consistency, your baby can nap and sleep well — even in noisy spaces like nursery! 💛
