💠“If I do sleep training… does that mean I’ll never contact nap again?”
I get asked this a lot!
The short answer: absolutely not. ❤️
Sleep training is about giving your baby the skills and confidence to settle and resettle in their own sleep space. It does not mean you have to give up cuddles, snuggles, or those precious contact naps forever.
Here’s the difference:
Before sleep training, contact naps might have felt like the only way your baby would sleep. You may have felt stuck holding them for every nap, even when you need a break.
After sleep training, contact naps become a choice. You’ll have the flexibility to put your baby down when you need to, and still choose cuddly naps on the days you want them.
🌿 Think of sleep training as adding tools to your toolbox. It doesn’t remove the old ones—it just gives you more options.
💡 Many parents find they enjoy contact naps more after sleep training, because it’s no longer about survival—it’s about connection. You get to soak up the cuddles without the stress of, “What if this is the only way they’ll ever sleep?”
So no—you’re not “ruining” contact naps by teaching your little one how to sleep well. You’re creating balance, flexibility, and freedom while still keeping space for those heart-melting naps on your chest. 💤❤️
