My personal sleep dilemma!
So my youngest is currently 19 months old and still in his cot. I have never had a 19 month old still in their cot which may seem crazy to most because I always recommend babies stay in their cot rather than transitioning to a bed for as long as possible.
Why have I never had a 19 month old in a cot still? My eldest moved out of the cot and into his own room around 18 months. My second and third boys were a similar age but moved in with their brothers. My eldest showed no problems transitioning to the new room and the other two enjoyed being in with their brothers so we had no issues!
There is no need for our youngest to move out of the cot and there isn’t really any need (or room) for him to move in with his brothers. I guess we could get rid of the cot, get another bunk bed and have 2 and 2 sharing and give my husband the office space he has craved for the past 7 years 🤣 but with that comes possible upset.
My youngest goes down beautifully in his cot. He is still in a sleeping bag (the transition to a duvet was not successful, you may recall from my stories) so if it’s not broken, it’s probably not wise to ‘fix’ it!
His cot can change into a cot bed, but maybe we will wait until he is much older and can articulate himself better before we do that? Maybe when he is potty training and knows he needs to get up and go?
None of mine have ever tried to climb out of a cot, so hopefully this little one doesn’t try it!
I guess the purpose of this post is to ask, when did you transition from cot to bed and why? Or if you haven’t yet, when do you think you will?
