Both personally and professionally I regularly hear…“It’ll just get easier when they get older…” and the answer to this is that sometimes yes, it absolutely does! But sometimes it’s a little more nuanced than that.

Yes 🤍
• There are fewer naps to think about – once they drop all naps, day trips are much easier!
• Days feel more flexible
• You can start to explain and prepare them before any big sleep changes happen

No 🤍
• Older babies and toddlers can show more resistance – they’re more likely to say no when you tell them it’s bedtime!
• They’re more aware and expressive – they know when things are changing and they know what they like and don’t like happening at bedtime.
• Sleep habits have had time to settle in – years of habits will be harder to undo (but not impossible at all!!

Sleep doesn’t automatically get better with age, it simply changes. And support can look different at different stages.

Whether your child is a baby or a toddler, gentle improvements are always possible and you don’t have to just “wait it out” if things feel hard.

I work with babies from 4 months up to children of 12 years old! Message me and see how I can help you ❤️
