🐑Get rid of Ewan🐑

Now you may be clicking this and wondering who Ewan is in which case this post may not be for you. Alternatively you may be here knowing exactly who Ewan is and wondering why he needs to go in the bin 😅

As a pregnant mum, I went to many baby shows and always saw this magical sleep device called ‘Ewan the dream sheep’ a ‘multi award winning sleep aid’ which plays white noise and is rechargeable.

Sounds wonderful! Sounds like the sort of item all new mums should buy – right?

However, the basic versions only stays on for either 20,40 or 80 minutes. Therefore it goes off and will only come back on if baby cries (and that’s only with the more expensive deluxe models). But really if baby has fallen asleep to white noise and woken in silence, rather than just going through to their next sleep cycle they get confused and cry by which point the sheep turns on and it’s too late.

As mentioned in an earlier post, if you decide to use white noise to sooth your baby to sleep, we need white noise on consistently from the start of the nap to the end for it to be useful.

Therefore a basic Ewan is not the one. Keep him as a cuddly toy if you want, but if your little one’s sleep isn’t great, I wouldn’t advise using Ewan (sorry 🐑)

I have been informed that there is a Ewan which stays on all night – this is great as long as it’s got enough charge on it and doesn’t run out of batteries overnight! As an alternative, I’d recommend the dreamegg portable white noise machine which you can buy on Amazon or any white noise machine will work as long as it stays on all night. The dreamegg can be plugged in and will definitely stay on all night that way!
