🛏️Duvets🛏️

Everyone knows about sleeping bags, togs, age ranges and making sure your little one is the right weight to start using them. But why does nobody talk about the big transition from sleeping bag to duvet?

We have obviously transitioned 3/4 of the boys from sleeping bags to duvets so here are my top tips on knowing when to make the transition:

1. 👦🏼Outgrowing the sleeping bag
* They seem restricted or uncomfortable in the sleeping bag.
* They’re consistently trying to unzip or remove it.

2. 🚶Improved movement
* Your child can walk confidently and get in and out of bed (if in a toddler bed).
* They can pull blankets over themselves during naps or while playing.

3. 🤨Interest in bedding
* They show curiosity about your duvet or want to use blankets during story time.
* They mimic tucking in toys or themselves with a blanket.

4. 🥵Temperature awareness
* They push off layers when hot or ask for warmth when cold — a sign they can regulate comfort better.

5. 📆Age & sleep independence
* Typically around 2 years old or when potty training starts (easier access to the toilet without a sleeping bag).
* They’re sleeping through the night with fewer disturbances.
* Definitely not before 12 months due to the risk of suffocation and SIDS.

So you think your little one is ready to transition to a duvet? Your next question will be, how do I do it? I will create my next ‘tips’ post on how to make the transition 🙂
