🧘♀️Spa Music🧘♀️
Whilst my boys are winding down before bed, we always play spa music! Think about when you have visited a spa, the music calms you down and relaxes you. That’s exactly what we want for our babies and children before they go to bed!
Spa music is relaxing for several reasons, all of which work together to calm the nervous system and promote a sense of peace and well-being:
1. Slow tempo and rhythm
* Spa music typically has a slow tempo, around 60–80 beats per minute, which naturally encourages the body to slow down and align with a more restful rhythm.
* This mimics the resting heart rate, helping to lower stress and induce a meditative state.
2. Soft, gentle sounds
* Instruments like flutes, chimes, harps, pianos, and soft synthesizers are often used.
* These sounds lack harshness or sudden changes, which allows the mind to relax without being startled or distracted.
3. Repetition and simplicity
* Spa music tends to be minimalist and repetitive, avoiding complexity or dramatic changes.
* This reduces cognitive load, letting the brain “unwind” without needing to follow a story or anticipate what comes next.
4. Nature sounds
* Gentle water (like rain, ocean waves, or streams), birdsong, or wind are common.
* These natural ambient sounds tap into our evolutionary connection with nature, which can soothe the nervous system.
Bottom line, it’s a perfect way to wind down at the end of the day! ⭐️🧘♀️
