⏰ Clock Change ⏰
The clocks are going back by 1 hour at 2 am on Sunday 26th October.
In our previous life, before kids, we would have been overjoyed by the fact that we could have an extra hour in bed. Unfortunately this is no longer the case and for those who have little ones who already wake early, we live in fear of an even earlier wake up.
Fear not, things will settle back after a few days/a week, as our body clock adjusts. Think about it, how many people do you know still stuck on the ‘old’ time when the clocks last changed? ☺️❤️
To help you to prepare for a clock change, I’ve got 3 options to choose from:-
⭐️Option 1: Starting 4 days before the clock change, move your little one’s entire routine later by 15 minutes each day. This means moving your morning awake time, feeds, naps, bedtimes.
For instance if your child usually sleeps at 7pm:
Wednesday 22nd – 7.15pm
Thursday 23rd – 7.30pm
Friday 24th – 7.45pm
Saturday 25th – 8pm
⭐️Option 2: The night before the clock change, put your little one down half an hour later.
This may not guarantee a later wake up but it can help somewhat with the body’s adjustment.
⭐️Option 3: Do nothing in advance. Just get up at your “new” normal time. So if you usually get up at 7am, get up at the newly adjusted 7am (which was 8am the day before the clock change )
This is what I will be doing!
Remember to treat any wake up before 6am as a night wake and try to resettle your little one until it is time to wake up for real.
