🚗Bedtime car transfer🚗
We’ve all been there – your little one falls asleep on the drive home, and you really don’t want to wake them when transferring to bed. Maybe you have planned a journey to visit and stay with family and travelled at bedtime.
Here are a few tips to make it smoother:
✨ Prepare the sleep space first – Have the bedroom dark, calm, and ready before you arrive. ✨ Keep the transition calm – Carry baby in slowly, keeping movements steady and gentle. ✨ Use familiar cues – A white noise machine or comfort phrase can signal “you’re safe, it’s sleep time” as you settle them down. ✨ If they stir… don’t panic. Gentle shushing or a hand on their chest often helps them drift back off.
Sometimes they’ll stay asleep, sometimes they’ll fully wake and that’s ok. Consistency with bedtime cues helps them learn to resettle more easily over time.
Safe sleep reminder: Babies should never continue sleeping in the car seat once the journey is over. Always transfer to a flat, safe sleep surface.
