🌙 Sleeping bags 🌙
One simple but powerful way to help your baby settle more easily for their daytime naps is to put them into their sleeping bag — just like you would at night. When I mention this to clients, so many question why we would do that when it isn’t bedtime!
This is such a valid question, so I thought I would create a post about it to explain the method behind my madness 😅
✨ It signals sleep time
Babies thrive on consistency. Using the same sleeping bag for naps creates a clear cue that it’s time to wind down and rest. That familiar feeling around their body helps their little brains shift from playtime to sleep time.
🫶 It provides comfort and security
A sleeping bag gives a gentle, enclosed feeling, much like a cuddle, helping your baby feel safe and calm as they drift off.
🌡️ It keeps their temperature steady
No need to worry about blankets being kicked off! A sleeping bag helps maintain a consistent temperature, which can mean longer, more restful naps.
I have had a few clients ask about changing into pyjamas during the day for naps but they aren’t essential for naps. If your baby’s clothes are soft, comfortable, and suitable for the room temperature (and free from hoods or bulky zips), that’s absolutely fine.
So next time your baby has a nap, try putting on their sleeping bag! That small step can make a big difference in helping them settle more smoothly — and sleep more soundly 💛
