✈️ Holiday tips – day naps✈️

You’re off on holiday and everyone is excited! But then you remember you’re going with a baby who naps, may have a set routine or possibly fights their sleep and suddenly the impending trip feels quite daunting!

We have travelled with the boys when they have been a range of ages from 6 months and have faced challenges such as early morning flights, night flights, sharing rooms, siblings sharing rooms, day naps out and about – the whole lot!

I thought I’d put together my top tips to help you all out! The next tip comes around day naps!

1. Buy a snoozeshade – honestly, it protects them from the sun and makes things darker so helps send them off to sleep when things are very bright and stimulating. (NightswithNat gets you 10% off on their website!)

2. Buy a fan to keep them cool whilst napping – it will keep them feeling comfortable. Forget the foam pram fans, get a USB chargeable clip on one from Amazon. They’re much more powerful and baby can’t play with it and stop any blades like the foam ones.

3. Try and stick to nap times/wake windows/follow sleepy cues – whatever you normally do at home to know when to put baby down for a nap. There is no point keeping a baby up just because it’s a holiday and ‘they’ll be ok’. If they are tired, take them for a walk and then park them next to your sunlounger in the shade. A rested baby is a happy baby! And a happy baby makes a very happy holiday!

4. If you don’t have a snoozeshade, or have a FOMO baby, create a footmuff out of a pillow case to protect them from the sun! Cut down one side of the pillow case, cut holes for the straps on one side of the pillow case and leave the other two sides stitched together! My friend told me about this hack and it’s genius!

The pictures are of my 3rd son and the pillow case hack when he was 9 months old!

But ultimately, holidays should be a time to relax! If routine goes out of the window, it really isn’t the end of the world. Enjoy yourself and get back on top of things when you return!
