⏰24 hours⏰

Forget Google telling you your child ‘should’ have 4 hours worth of naps and 12 hours solid sleep overnight.

Forget your friends telling you their baby has 1 hour, 2 hour and 1 hour naps a day and their baby sleeps through.

Look at your baby. Look at their sleep.

If you would love a 7-7 sleeper (which is actually very rare), that is 12 hours of solid sleep overnight. If your baby only needs 13 hours of sleep in the 24 hour period, that’s only 1 hour of naps needed before they’ve had ‘too much’ sleep! Obviously it is baby dependent and younger babies do need more sleep overnight, but every baby is so different and that is why generic routines don’t work.

I have worked with 8 month olds who needed less sleep than my 15 month old.

My final thoughts?

Every child is different.
Track their sleep using an app like Huckleberry. That will tell you how much sleep they are having every day and then tweak it so the majority of that sleep is overnight 💪⏰
